They are zippy and peppery tasting.

Butterflies and hummingbirds like the long flowers.

They are easy to grow— given sun and plenty of water—in containers or garden beds. .

Beautiful flowers are bright yellow, orange and red. Toss into salads, garnish any dish.

The round leaves look like lily pads. Use them in salads and sandwiches.

Fresh seedpods taste like a burst of wasabi. Eat with cheese and salume. Pickle them like capers.

Every part of the plant is edible.
