Spiced Smitten

Warm cider, steamy and spiced, is perfect for a cold winter evening. We use Smitten, our sweetest hard cider.

Ingredients

  • Suttons Bay Ciders Smitten
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon orange peel
  • 1 teaspoon crystal ginger

Instructions

Spices are best if lightly toasted ahead of time to bring out their flavors. Fill a ball-type tea strainer or muslin tea bag with the spice mix.

Heat cider until warm, not hot. Steep spices for 1 minute in an individual cup of warm Smitten or 10 minutes in a full growler (half gallon).

Your bag of spices can be reused to make many cups of cider.
