Ingredients
- 4 bratwurst
- 1 baguette
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon dry herb blend (we like our own, which contains sage, chive, oregano and thyme)
- 1 package cream cheese
- 4 tablespoons favorite fruit preserve or fruit butter (we like chokecherry jelly or apple butter)
- 1 sprig fresh thyme for garnish
Preparation
Cook bratwurst until done; we like to roast them in a 350° oven, on foil to catch the drips. Allow to cool, then slice into at least 20 pieces.
Preheat oven to 325°. Cut baguette into at least 20 slices and lay out on a baking sheet. Mix melted butter and dried herbs and brush the mixture onto the bread slices. Toast in oven until lightly browned, about 8–10 minutes.
Let cream cheese become slightly softened and mix with the fruit preserve or fruit butter of your choice.
Once the crostini are out of the oven and cold you can begin assembling. Place a dollop of cream cheese preserve on top of each toast, top that with a piece of bratwurst, then garnish with a little bit of fruit preserve and thyme. Enjoy!
